About Me

My photo
I'm an Army wife and aspiring author, published by Evernight Publishing. I primarily write M/M, but I'm starting to branch out. I'm not very good at technology, but I'm hoping this blog gives me the opportunity to communicate with other authors and readers. My life is kept interesting by my soldier, Ringo the chihuahua, and all the amazing people that I consider friends. I also work entirely too much as a coach at a local gym, a caregiver at a church nursery, and a freelance baker.

6 Sentence Sunday 5/27

Not that I'm counting obsessively, but it's 23 days until Hero releases through Evernight Publishing. I'm really excited!

To pass the time until then, every Sunday I'm going to post 6 sentences from Hero. I'll post a link to these blog posts on my Twitter. Anyone who re-tweets these will be entered in Kitten's Ultimate Drawing of Winning Things to win a free copy of Hero.

So, without further ramblings, our first 6 Sentence Sunday commences:
WARNING: ADULT CONTENT

"He let out a soft gasp when he felt Aaron’s big hands grip his hips. He pressed his mouth into the mattress to muffle his cry of pleasure when Aaron’s cock plunged inside him. The sound of flesh slapping against flesh and the metallic tinkling of Aaron’s dog tags filled the room. Oliver held the quilt in both his fists and pulled it closer to his mouth as his moans got louder. He felt Aaron’s hand reach up and tangle in his hair. He threw his head back and panted with the exertion of reciprocating every thrust."

Release Date

The tentative release date for Hero is June 19th!

I'm definitely excited, but a little nervous as well. Can't help but be afraid it won't sell very well. Even if it doesn't though, I'm just happy I did it.

Once I have the release date set in stone, I'll think of a contest of some sort to pick a person to win a free copy as a big thank you to all of you.

I do owe so much to the readers and writers from Literotica. I feel like I've come a long way and I really owe it all to you guys. I would try to name you all, but I'm afraid I'd forget someone.

Here's to hoping I don't fall flat on my face!

My book cover is in...

Don't worry. Repeating, "DAMN!" over and over again is quite the normal reaction.

DAMN!

I've been staring at it since I got it. Don't judge me...

International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia

That's today, folks. Even though I'm not participating in a blog hop, I still think it's important for me to add my voice to that of the millions of people speaking today.

I live in Texas, in a town that doesn't have any resources readily available for the LGBT community. In an effort to change that, I started a group. We have about 20 members, but we're growing. We have big plans for activism, but I think the main purpose the group serves is to let everyone know they're not alone.

The reason I did this is pretty simple. One day, I'm going to have offspring(s). I want to be sure that when I do, if my child happens to be gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender etc. I will be able to say that I have and continue to fight for equality. So that if my future child is gay or lesbian, s/he can marry the one they love or if my future child is transgender s/he can express who s/he is without fear. To me, that's the best thing I can do right now.

As an author of m/m romance, there's a bit of a (for lack of a better word) stigma attached in some people's eyes. I'm getting published pretty soon and I can't even tell my father for fear of judgement. People assume there's something wrong or perverted about it, but all I write about is love.

Love is beautiful. It's the one thing that unites us. There's a lot of hate in the world, so much that it can be discouraging. That's why days like today are so important. We all need to be reminded that our love is stronger than their hate.

Now, great news!

On the tail of being rejected, something awesome has happened. Hero was accepted almost instantly by Evernight Publishing. I signed the contract and everything. I'm kind of mega excited!

My ego has exploded, clearly, but now I'm trying to think of what to do next. It's not working so well.

Some not so good news

I just heard back from Dream Spinner Press. Unfortunately, I've been rejected. It sucks, but I'm not giving up.

I'm pleased to announce that I'm done with the finishing touches on Hero and I'll be submitting it to Evernight Publishing as soon as I finish this blog post. I have a good feeling about this and I'd appreciate all the positive thoughts/good vibes/prayers you want to send my way as I wait to hear back from them.

Just checking in

Well, the semester is over! Finally! I'm please to report that I got all A's and B's. I'm a smart cookie...

Anyway, aside from that we're still waiting to hear about whether or not my manuscript has been accepted. It should be any day now, but I'm starting to feel like it's not going to happen. However, I'm really confident that when I finally finish Hero it'll be my ticket to real author-dom (it's a thing, trust me).

On a totally related note, as someone married to the Army there will be times when we're apart. One thing that really helps with that is Skype. Now, I'm not going to reveal if I have or haven't (but I'm sure you can guess), but many, many couples that have to be separated have a little cyber nookie via Skype.

So, I want your opinion. Have you/would you ever do it? Do you think it's hot or not?

This may or may not be related to a possible teaser from Hero at the end of the week. Just sayin'
